 Riley's Smash Cake Mini Album

Here's another mini (I know - don't groan)! This one has the stitched binding again. I love this mini! It is so bright & quirky. I did a 'Smash Cake' photo session with Riley for his first birthday. Smash cakes are becoming more popular & more expensive. I've heard of people paying $80 for a cake & then hire a professional photographer as well!? Holy doly - not me, I brought a lie from Etsy, the same material from spotlight & made a nappy cover, 2M of white block-out curtain material also from Spotlight for the backdrop, a piece of white corflute as floor mat & got everything ready & snapped away with my Canon DSLR. Handy hint though - it pays to have a few people their to help. Riley saw me perched on the ground at his level & all he wanted then was a cuddle, so we had to keep putting him back in frame. Also you don't want to get cake all over your camera (especially when your sister can get it all over her LOL! Thanks Beth).

I am the Mini Album Queen (LOL)

I am offically "obsessed" with these little stitched mini abums. They are so fun & quick to make, & they hold heaps of photos. This little one was made from the scraps of another one I made. I will link my YouTube video below for this. All the pages are folded in half, then simply machine stitch down the centre crease. Ta Da!!! Instant mini!!

Riley's 1st Birthday Party Mini Album

I made this mini album completely from scratch (yay me LOL). I used scraps of cardboard, cereal boxes etc. The paper range I've used is Kaisercraft 'Save The Date'. It is such a fun & bright collection - perfect for a party! I love the look of mis-matched albums, I find them more interactive & cool to look at LOL. It also allows you to get away with minimal embellishments, because essentially the pages are embellishments themselves :) The first thing I do when making a mini, is cut all my cardboard/chipboard to the sizes/shapes I want & work out order they will go in. I then go through & cover all the pages, before binding them. I purchased a Bind-It-All, solely for my love of mini albums. Then I went in with my photos, embellishments, washi tape, bling & pens to finish it off.
I love how it turned out. Such a great little memento from a great day. Below are some of the internal pages...

Also, here is my YouTube video I did on this project :)

I have caught the Pinterest bug - big time!!! I love my electronic hoarding LOL!

Tri-Fold Birthday Card

This is a birthday card I created for my Nan. It was pretty much constructed out of scraps.
I firstly folded the cardstock into 3 equal parts & then decided on the heights & cut.
I add some paperbag pockets, resin flower, chipboard clock face, shipping tag, washi tape, photo cut outs, twine, alphabets etc. This was a really fun & quick project to make.

Because it wasn't a standard sized card, I had an oversized envelope lying around from a birthday that was the right size. I carefully pulled the envelope apart & then traced it onto some pretty D/S paper to create a new envelope.
So make someone important a card today :)

'Always Dream Big' page layout

I had so much fun making this one! I've always admired Finnabear's scrapbooking style - but I've never attempted to try it. Well I bit the bullet! I brought her 12x12 'Dreamer Collection' (from 7 Dots Studio) ages ago, so I decided to use some of it LOL!!!

I've collected alot of metal trinkety things to use over the last couple of years. Things like washers, buttons, sprockets, studs, paper clips, safety pins, mini bottle caps, metal flowers etc.

What I did was I glued them all down with clear tacky craft glue, & then painted over with a light coat of gesso. Once that dried, I sprayed with homemade glimmer mist & Mr Huey's spray.
REMEMBER - to put a piece of paper or something over your photo to stop it from getting sprayed!!!

My Version of Project Life :)

If been looking at purchasing / making a Project Life album for sometime, I keep putting it off for  a few reasons. I have read a few blogs, & found that after awhile it becomes a chore to keep it up to date & I wasn't keen on purchasing a whole new scrapbooking kit / style. So, to scratch my creative itch to do something like PL, I came up with this double layout. I found some really cute free printables from 'Miss Tina' & I used some of her elements to personalize my own cards.

I did these in photoshop & printed them as photos. I used kraft cardstock & using a template of the cards, I traced around them with a pencil to work out my placing. I then used a sewing machine to stitch in my grid first & then rubbed out my pencil lines. Once I'd done that I started sticking down my photos, elements & did my journalling :)

Latest scrappy creations....

Hi Scrappers!! These pages I have created over the last couple of weeks at home, doodling around at the coffee table (instead of my craft room LOL) in front of the TV. I'm one of those people that can't sit still - my hands ALWAYS have to be busy. So all these layouts feature my best creation - my little man Riley!! So take a look & thanks for stopping by :)

Craft Day pages

I went to a Craft Day on Sunday with a group of ladies. I had a blast (almost like being at a scrap retreat LOL). We spent the scrapbooking, talking, eating - the usual he he. I only achieved to finish 3 pages - but I am really happy that I got through that many, as I've hardly had a chance to do any in the last few months.
So here are the pages I created :)

'At The Park'

'Cheeky'

'Riley' 8 Months Old

'We Are Family'

Hey Scrappers,

Here is another layout I have done using white cardstock for the background. I used Pink Paislee mask, Dylusions spray, acrylic paint, black ink, book pages, paper scraps, epoxy stickers, TH chit chat stickers, black & white pens, kaisercraft packaging & black distress ink. I'm loving the unstructured layouts using mix medias!

Papercraft Expo 2012 - I met Tim Holtz!!!

I went to Papercraft Expo in Brissy on the long weekend. What a blast - but I only had one mission....
to get a photo with Tim & an autograph. Which I did! Super excited, I was mad enough to take a bloody pram (I should've fitted a bullbar before going) - Riley & I pushed our way in & I got a happy snap. The poor bugger must feel a bit smothered though, but he's probably use to it. Brought lots & lots of goodies, I now have to find a home for them in my scrap room LOL!!! My little Riley was such a good boy all day - even though he was teething & feeling crappy :)

So in a matter of 2 months, I have met to of my scrapbooking idols!!

'Everyday Life' scrap page

I created this page for my inspiration board, that hangs in my scrap room. I love using white backgrounds at the moment. Handy hint for you, all I use is the white inserts that come in your album page refills!!! I have a whole stack of them - so what better use for them :)

I've used the following to make this:

- acrylic paint (black & teal)                - paper scraps
- white rub ons                                     - thickers
- TH chit chat stickers                         - Stazon ink
- stamps                                               - border punches
- washi tape                                         - black bling
- black felt pen

So pull the white pages out of your album refills & make something pretty out of them :)
