How To Make A Simple Mini Album

Ok here's a quick little run thru on how I make some really cute & simple
mini albums... I made this one 6x8" (cover is 8x12" folded in half).
First thing I do is print my cover as an 8x12" photo at my local photolab.
I then glue & D/S tape (as I want it to stay together) to a sheet of manilla folder.
I trim down to size & allow glue to dry before folding in half.
I then round the outer corners.

Then I raid my scraps stash & paper off-cuts for my pages. These can be all different sizes & shapes,
as it creates interest in your mini. I then fold & score them in half.

I then start figuring out what order I want them in...
I then make a template to mark the 3 holes I need for my binding & then go thru & pierce
every hole. You'll need some twine & a sewing needle for this bit. Here is the youtube video
I got this binding technique from:

The only thing I've done differently is to finish the knot on the ouside on cover. So the first stitch is started from the outside (not the inside like she did)
Like so :)

Here is a FREEBIE for you!! My cover design for you to print off &
create your own mini with :)
To download my book cover design, simply right click & save as.
It is designed to be printed as an 8x12 photo enlargement (matte works best!)

Here's video of my finished mini album, so grab a cuppa & enjoy :)

This is also the style/technique I used for my Dec Daily last year :)

APRIL NEW RELEASES @ WOW

Here are my creations this month using the April releases from WOW.

This is a card using the chipboard title 'My Wish For You'
I used copics, watercolours & glossy accents on this.

Here is a layout using the chipboard title 'Play Day'.
I've used acrylic paints & black pen to add details to this. I added patches to make it look loved & worn. Riley was so excited to when Ethy came to play - but as soon as he wanted Thomas too, the fun stopped there LOL!

This is one of the new MDF door hangers. I've covered this in paper, then using pens & stickles to add detail. I've used seem binding as the hanger & added a manila piece at the base, with the 'you wake him, you take him' - as that's what I said to everyone!!!

Make sure to stop by the WOW blog & check out the rest of the DT work

Riley's 1st Birthday Party Mini Album

I made this mini album completely from scratch (yay me LOL). I used scraps of cardboard, cereal boxes etc. The paper range I've used is Kaisercraft 'Save The Date'. It is such a fun & bright collection - perfect for a party! I love the look of mis-matched albums, I find them more interactive & cool to look at LOL. It also allows you to get away with minimal embellishments, because essentially the pages are embellishments themselves :) The first thing I do when making a mini, is cut all my cardboard/chipboard to the sizes/shapes I want & work out order they will go in. I then go through & cover all the pages, before binding them. I purchased a Bind-It-All, solely for my love of mini albums. Then I went in with my photos, embellishments, washi tape, bling & pens to finish it off.
I love how it turned out. Such a great little memento from a great day. Below are some of the internal pages...

Also, here is my YouTube video I did on this project :)

Tri-Fold Birthday Card

This is a birthday card I created for my Nan. It was pretty much constructed out of scraps.
I firstly folded the cardstock into 3 equal parts & then decided on the heights & cut.
I add some paperbag pockets, resin flower, chipboard clock face, shipping tag, washi tape, photo cut outs, twine, alphabets etc. This was a really fun & quick project to make.

Because it wasn't a standard sized card, I had an oversized envelope lying around from a birthday that was the right size. I carefully pulled the envelope apart & then traced it onto some pretty D/S paper to create a new envelope.
So make someone important a card today :)

 'RILEY' Paper Bag Mini Album

This little mini album I created using white paper bags from Riot Art. There are heaps of tutorials on Youtube how to make one of these. Really easy & really affective! I used the paper range from Simple Stories 'Baby Steps', it is such a cool baby range. I love it!! Below are just a couple of pages, but I will put the link to my Youtube video below, so you can see it in more detail :)

'OUR FAMILY' Mini Album

This mini album I created with scraps of chipboard from my stash, so it's a bit of a mis-mash!! I used the 8x8 Printery paper collection from Prima for this & whatever other scraps I had.

I love how it turned out! The word 'family' were originally blue chipboard letters that I used a black permanent marker to colour in & then used 'Snickerdoodle Smooch' to dot over the letters. They look pretty cool! I covered all the chipboard pages & inked around the the edges with distress ink & then bound it all together with my Bind-It-All. I grabbed anything that would coordinate with this & then just went nuts LOL!!! Washi tape, Photo Cut outs, flowers, metal trinkets, bling etc!

I've also done a Youtube video on this mini. Here's the link

Hope I've inspired you to rifle through your stash to
create a beautiful keepsake :)

Ornate Shadow Box Frame

ORNATE SHADOW BOX FRAME

In this project I used the Ornate shadow box frame & the ornamental gate piece from 'Words Or Whatever'. I have done a video explaining how I made this project. Firstly this comes flat packed - so I used Prit Glue (best glue ever!) to assemble. So grab a cuppa, sit back & take a squize at my video.

Mini Album & Altered Box

Hey Scrappers, Here is my latest project, which I spend most of yesterdau doodling with this one. I love these papers!!! This box is from 'Scrapware' & the papers are from 'Cosmo Cricket - Circa 1934' range. The metal corner embellies are from Green Tara, the flowers & hat pins I have made myself. For this project I used 6 sheets of the papers, old book pages, 1 x 'Scrapware' 6x6 box kit, 1 x 'Cosmo Cricket - Circa 1934' chipboard sheet & 4 x metal corner frames. Angel's R Scrappin have all of these above items in store.

'Words Or Whatever' Wall Hangings

Hey Scrappers,
These are a couple of shadow box frames I've made. The middle frame is 12 x12 & the other two are 8 x 8. I was going for a rustic pink frenchy feel. The chipboard embellishments used in these are 'Words Or Whatever'.

Door Hanger

Hey There,

Just a quick email to show you my door hanger. I've put this on my craft room door, for that little bit of inspiration as I walk in :)

'Words Or Whatever' - MDF Photo Tray

Hey Scrappers,

This awesome photo tray is from 'Words Or Whatever'. I Loooooooooove it!!!! It comes in 2 pieces, so you can get all your papers stuck in & then hide all your crooked (he he) edges with the top sectioned piece. The easiest way I found to get all your papers in the right place, was to trace the top sectioned window onto the backing piece. I have used papers from 'Stampin Up', old book pages, vintage music sheets, ZVA Creative bling, 'WOW' Leaves & date label, Kaisercraft Mini Alphas & Tim Holtz Ornate Book Plate, crackle paints & distress ink. Things I have made for this are the paper roses, hat pins, digital print outs, clear transparencies.

I am so proud of this project, as I think I really put a piece of myself into this one!

'I've Been Looking For You' - OTP Mobil

Hi all,

This is my little OTP I created. It's a mobil made from 'Words or Whatever' chipboard circles pack. It's so cute - I just have to figure out where to hang it LOL!! The photos don't do it jusice, you can see any glitter or textures, but still it was heaps of fun to make. It's good to steer away from only doing pages :)

'Purple Haze' Bird

This little bird cage was actually a christmas decoration I found at Big W?! It didn't seem fitting for a tree, so I altered it with flowers & vinyl decals. Ta-da!!!

Shadow Box Frame from 'Words Or Whatever'

The fantastic shadow box frame is from 'Words Or Whatever'. It gives great diamention to a flat page & highlights the photo just that little bit more.
